As many of you know, I will be leaving for Africa in less than 24 hours! I will be departing my home at 3:00 am tomorrow morning, and not returning till May 7th. I am beyond excited for the adventures and struggles that I will be facing over the next four months. As excited as I am for this trip as a whole, I was not excited to spend a couple of days packing. It was difficult to differentiate between packing needs and packing wants (don’t worry, I put chocolate in as a packing need)! Only time will tell if I made good decisions. 🙂
I would like to take a moment to explain the picture. Apart from it showing that I have too much stuff, and too little room, I would like you to notice the dolls in my hands. There is a lady named Evelyn from my church, who spends hours preparing these dolls for children. You couldn’t find a sweeter person. She cleans the dolls faces, combs their hair, and dresses them with homemade clothing that she stitched herself. She doesn’t ever know who will take them, or where they will go, but she trusts in God that they will be delivered to the right Children. As I packed those dolls last night, I realized I would like to be more like Evelyn. I want to trust that God will use my strengths to help others, and support me in my weaknesses. I want go where God leads me, even if I am not aware of where that might be. I have felt from the very beginning that this is exactly where God wanted me to go, and I had no Idea why, but that’s ok! He knows, and that is enough! Plus, it would take some of the fun away to know the whole plan.
If you would like to stay updated with my life in Africa, stay tuned because there will be more posts to come! I am going to do my best to share my stories as much as possible, but I encourage you to reach out to me as well! My email address and physical address to where I will be living from February 15th-May 7th is:
P.O. Box 1340 – 00502
I will be accepting care packages to that address as well! 🙂
Thank you to all those who supported me financially and spiritually. You allowed God to use you, and I am very grateful!
